BEAUTIFUL GAMES by The Guardian

These simple posters by John Paul Stallard and Rob Duncan are inspired by the rich heritages and colourful nicknames of football and baseball teams. The limited colour palette and bald, reductivist style make them rather striking, and those that include oblique historical references are sure to appeal to football nerds. Real Betis's poster is, for instance, a nod to the supporter who, since the 90s, has been taking his father's ashes to home games in a milk carton. Meanwhile, Liverpool's poster uses the metalwork from the Anfield gates as its cue, while the design for Chicago Cubs is based on the team's ivy-covered home Wrigley Field. The duo, who collabroate under the moniker Art of Sport, have so far done posters for the Premier League, La Liga and Major League Baseball. Their work can also be found via Form & Glory
